FROM 16 TO 24 MAY: THE LAUDATO SI WEEK

From 16 to 24 May, the Pope invites Catholics throughout the world to a week of prayer and reflection for the 5th anniversary of the Encyclical Laudato Si, so that a more just and sustainable future may come about.

Indeed, the coronavirus pandemic that is shaking up our world is unfortunately not the only one. As the Pope mentioned during his Mass on 14 May, other more silent pandemics are ravaging it: war, hunger, the tragedy of children not attending school… Since the beginning of the year 2020, in 4 months, 3,700,000 people would have died of hunger. But ‘everything is linked’ as the Encyclical teaches us.

In a message to the whole Society of the Sacred Heart and those attached to it, offering them the opportunity to participate in this week, Sr Barbara Dawson and her team at the Mother House say: ‘ we clearly recognize that our common home is threatened on many levels and the message of Laudato Si’ is all the more prophetic ».

It would also be an excellent way to prepare ourselves for the feast of St. Madeleine-Sophie Barat on May 25 by giving new depth and energy to « our charism and mission – to discover and manifest the love of Jesus Christ – which have been revealed at a time of societal crisis ».

On the international site of the rscj which we invite you to consult (www.rscjinternational.org), you will find links to enable you to live this week in union with all the members of our Sacred Heart Family and the universal Church.
