MEETING WITH SR BARBARA DAWSON

MEETING WITH SR BARBARA DAWSON

Wishing to strengthen the links of our association with the rest of the family of the Sacred Heart, the priority of the new president Paola del Prete was to visit the Superior General of the Sacred Heart, Sr Barbara Dawson. The meeting took place on Wednesday 30 January at the Mother House in Rome, in the presence of Sr. Isabelle Lagneau, one of Sr. Barbara’s 4 advisers and two members of the AMASC administrative office. In a very free and warm way, Paola and Sr. Barbara were able to discuss their respective projects and how they envisage the future. In line with the recommendations of the Nemi chapter in 2016, major changes are preparing for the governance of the Sacred Heart Society. A special chapter should be held on this subject in 2021, before which all the nuns of each Province will be consulted. Paola, who presents her draft mandate ‘Let’s live together with the Sacred Heart Family’, refers in particular to her wish to create a ‘World Mater Day’. This feast of Mater admirabilis could be celebrated on the same day all over the world by all members of the Sacred Heart family, allowing each other to make themselves more visible. Moreover, at all levels – global, regional or local – it would be good if the representatives of the various branches of the Sacred Heart family could meet to learn about their projects and see how to help each other. Finally, an AMASC collaboration with a rscj mission is envisaged, in which alumni could invest collectively throughout this new mandate 2018-2022. A new meeting with Sr Barbara will probably take place next year.
